Guerrilla Games has worked on the Killzone series since at least 2003 with the upcoming Killzone: Shadow Fall for the PS4 being the sixth version in the franchise. However, lead designer Eric Boltjes confirmed in an interview released Monday that the developer is working on an entirely new intellectual property (IP).
"I can be true about it, yes. That's definitely what's happening right now. I can't tell you what we're thinking of but yes," Boltjes told Eurogamer when asked if Guerrilla Games was interested in trying different game types.
"As a studio we do want to branch out, and we have started work on a new IP, something completely different to Killzone. I don't want to say anything about it right now, but as a studio we do want to keep it fresh."
Boltjes declined to elaborate on what the new IP might be but it arguably must be an exciting time for Guerrilla Games whose only other title in its lineup is Shellshock: Nam '67 which was released in 2004.
Killzone: Shadow Fall will be available for the PS4 when the console launches on Nov. 15.
