'Killzone: Shadow Fall' confirmed for Playstation 4 as launch title

The next game in the "Killzone" franchise has officially been announced. For "Killzone" fans, this is a great bit of news, and it's also good for those who intend on getting a Playstation 4 when it launches at the end of the year.

"Killzone: Shadow Fall" will be the next game in the series. Guerrilla Games senior producer Steven Ter Heide announced the game on the Playstation Blog, announcing not only the game but that it would be a launch title, the first "Killzone" to do so.

"Today we are happy we can finally show you what we have been working on. It has been an amazing journey for us so far, being offered the opportunity to be a launch title for the new PlayStation, and the subsequent mild panic to figure out how to best handle all of that. But being able to now share it with you is both a scary and proud moment. We are hoping you will like what we have created, and are happy to present you with the first glimpse of 'Killzone: Shadow Fall'," said Heide.

Word on the street is "Killzone: Shadow Fall" is joining "Watch Dogs" and "DriveClub" as launch titles for the PS4, but nothing has been set in stone yet. Surely more launch title news will come out at E3.

Sony's Playstation 4 is expected to launch holiday 2013.
