There is a sweet German shepherd that needs some help to survive. Her name is Killo and she was turned into a kill shelter by her owners. They could no longer afford to feed her. She ran out of time and has been saved by Westside German Shepherd Rescue of Los Angeles.
Killo has a little known condition called EPI (Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency). EPI occurs when the part of the pancreas (acinar tissue) that produces digestive enzymes no longer functions properly. The animal basically starves to death even though it appears it is eating well.
More than half the cases of this condition can be found in German shepherds and closely related breeds. Click here for more info on this life threatening condition.
How can you help? Westside German Shepherd Rescue of Los Angeles has opened a donation site where money can be given to help this special girl. Right now they are half way to their initial goal.
This condition requires a special powder to be mixed with their food. This is quite costly. This dog will require this powder and extensive veterinarian care for the rest of her life. Your donation can help save her and get her back to a healthy state so adoption can be considered.
Even though Killo is so malnourished, the rescue reports she is still spunky and full of life. Consider helping her today or payday or whatever is convenient to you. Any amount will help her on the road to recovery.
