Suda 51 and Grasshopper Manufacture, the minds behind the "No More Heroes" games, revealed a new action game via Famitsu on Wednesday. The stylistic title is currently scheduled to be released on the Playsation 3 and Xbox 360 in Japan this summer.
"Development has already been ongoing for an extended period of time," Suda 51 wrote in a Famitsu column translated by Polygon. "It's the first game in the 'assassin' series that Grasshopper Manufacture has worked on in a while, a title that picks up where Killer7 and No More Heroes left off."
"Killer is Dead" is set in the near future with Mondo Zappa as the protagonist who must travel around the world to execute various assassins. The well-dressed assassin wields a sword in his right hand while his cybernetic left arm can turn into guns, drills, and other useful items.
The game will come with an updated take on Suda 51's favored stylized, cell-shaded look.
"It's not trying to regress into the past," Suda said. "We're trying to make a game that we'd only be able to make right now, at this point in time. The result is seen in our unique high-contrast shading seen in the graphics, as well as the high speed wrestling-like action."
There's no word yet if "Killer is Dead" will be localized to North America or Europe yet but we would expect that to happen to some degree based on past releases from Suda 51 and Grasshopper Manufacture.
