Killer escapes Walker County Jail

June 28, 2011

HUNTSVILLE -- A prisoner has escaped from the Walker County jail and he is considered dangerous.
Chief Deputy Butch Davis told The Police News this morning that Trent Archie over powered a jailer at the phone back about 3am and made his escape.
Archie was wearing a white T-shirt and black shorts but most likely would change clothes as quickly as possible.   Davis says Archie didn't take the guard's weapon but he is still considered dangerous.
He was in jail for a narcotics charge. Archie is a black male, 29, 6' 1", about 190 pounds with brown eyes. He has tattoos on his right arm from his elbow down to his wrist.
Chief Deputy Davis says Archie has been handled by his office in the past for drug violations, sexual assault and murder.
Archie's criminal history includes a 2006 conviction for the shotgun murder of Anthony Williams in 2004. He was released on an appeal bond in 2009 after his attorneys challenged several aspects of the case, including the testimony of a jailhouse informant and the denial of a motion for a mistrial. He was arrested again in July 2010 for possession of a controlled substance and possession of a dangerous drug and was released later that year on a $275,000 bond, a bond that was still active at the time of his latest arrest on drug charges.
