Killer dolphins capable of carrying firearms and special knifes mounted on their heads have escaped a Ukrainian Navy base, so say the headlines on March 12, 2013, but this sounds more like a promo for a B-movie. Then when you hear that the dolphins escaped because they were “looking for love,” you'd probably be thinking that if this was a movie, it is one you'd definitely would skip watching! Although it's hard to believe, this is a real news story coming out of Russia, according to the Huffington Post.
Russian state media agency reported that three of these killer dolphins had escaped from a naval base in the Ukraine and that they are a part of a secret military training program. They made their getaway from Sevastopol on the Crimean peninsula. The animals were out looking for “suitable mates.” Apparently that would be another dolphin who finds guns and knifes mounted on perspective mate's heads romantic.
On Wednesday, March 13, this story is now reported as “fabricated” by Russian officials, according to the Inquistr. Still others say there is a program that is working with dolphins in the military and they can carry these special weapons that are mounted to their heads. The Inquistr also reports that there is no evidence that the dolphins had these special mounted weapons on their heads when they made their escape.
This very bizarre story has gone viral over the past 24 hours, but there's no reports of the killer dolphins surfacing and using unsuspecting folks as target practice, as of yet. While they're supposedly equipped with special guns and knifes, training them to pull the trigger had to have been a problem.
This story sounds way to bizarre to be true, but you just never know!
