Killed same day sister sat behind Obama, a teen was fatally shot in the head by a bullet intended for someone else. The tragic incident took place on Fri., Feb. 15, 2013. While 14-year-old Destini McFarlane was seated mere feet away from President Obama as he spoke to students and guests during a visit to Hyde Park Academy High School in Chicago, her 18-year-old sister Janay was just hours away from meeting her maker at the hands of a gun-toting killer. Chicago Sun Times reported that two people are being questioned in McFarlane's death.

North Chicago police and the Lake County State’s Attorney’s office were reportedly questioning the two suspects on Sunday in the case of the woman killed on the same day her sister sat behind Obama. However, no charges had been filed as of Sunday afternoon.

Lake County Coroner Thomas Rudd confirmed that Janay McFarlane, the young adult killed same day sister sat behind Obama, died from a single gunshot wound to the head that she sustained at approximately 11:30 p.m. in an alley on the 1300 block of Jackson Street in the far north suburb of North Chicago where she was visiting family and friends. The gunman was reportedly aiming for one of her friends when he struck McFarlane.
