Kidscreen Summit 2014 (February 9-12) is in the air, especially the air that kids' network executives and program creators breathe. Held annually in the Big Apple, Kidscreen is the mother lode of all children's content markets and conferences. Below is a slightly musical tribute, LA Animation Examiner-style, to the tune of Mother (also known as, M is for the many things she gave me).

KID is for the tots who watch much TV;
S means TV series that are sold.
C is for the crying to net money;
R is for a run of purest gold.
EE is for eeks! The date's approaching!
N means now's the time for registry.
Put them all together. They spell KIDSCREEN.
A word that means the world of kids' TV!

On a related note, the recently revamped Women in Animation (WIA) will host a networking party on Tuesday, February 11 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Iguana (240 West 54th Street in Manhattan). The event boasts free food, a free digital subscription of Animation Magazine for all attendees, the requisite schmoozefest, and a copy of Dr. Seuss's The Cat in the Hat: Hurray It's Valentine's Day DVD for the first 100 guests. A no-host bar will be available. WIA co-presidents Marge Dean (Mattel) and Kristy Scanlan (Technicolor), plus other LA-based professional members, will be on hand to educate partygoers about the new-and-improved organization. To RSVP, visit by February 7. Men and women are welcome!
