Chicagoland children ages 12 and under are invited to participate in the Kids Summer Reading Challenge at Borders through August 31, 2009. Young readers will earn a coupon that lets them purchase one of the select Reading Challenge toys or book collections, all of which are priced at $4.99 for a savings of 50% or more off of their usual price.
How to participate in the Borders Kids Reading Challenge
Chicago kids who want to participate in the Kids Summer Reading Challenge at Borders must visit the Summer Reading at Borders Web page and download the Reading Challenge Worksheet.
Next, children must read at least 8 books and list the titles of each on their Reading Challenge Worksheets. If kids are stumped for ideas for age-appropriate books for summer reading, Borders has compiled book lists of Perfect Picks for ages 5 to 8 and Perfect Picks for ages 8 to 12 on the Summer Reading Web page.
Once children have completed the Borders Reading Challenge, they must have a parent or guardian sign the completed worksheet and bring them into any Borders, Borders Express, or Waldenbooks store no later than August 31, 2009 to redeem their coupon.
Reading Challenge Items
With a completed Borders Reading Challenge worksheet, children can purchase any of the following Reading Challenge items for only $4.99:
- The E.L. Konigsburg 3-Book Collection.
- Bunnicula 3-Book Collection (by Deborah and James Howe).
- How to Draw SpongeBob SquarePants Kit.
- Melissa & Doug 4 Wooden Jigsaw Puzzles in a Box.
- Drawing and Painting Horses Kit.

Through May 31, 2009, the first child from each school to bring in a completed Summer Reading Challenge Worksheet will receive a $5 Borders gift card.
