Cape Cod’s Payomet Performing Arts Center has some great children’s programs for the summer of 2011. The familiar white tent on the grounds of the Highlands Center in the Cape Cod National Seashore in North Truro will host magicians, jugglers, acting classes and even a special adaptation of Shakespeare's A Winter's Tale, just for kids.
Payomet 2011 season for kids includes a magic show and a juggler
Every kid loves magic and Marcus the Magician will be sure to please. The kids will even be able to get in on the performance on July 6, 2011. Marcus the Magician runs the Cape Cod based Magiccompany.
A week later, on July 13, Trevor the Juggler, another Cape Cod local, takes the stage along with special guest Zach Trautz. Once you’ve seen this show you’ll want to sign up for his juggling classes at the Harwich Junior Theatre.
Theater/acting classes and Shakespeare for kids
Create, Explore and Build is Payomet Performing Arts Center’s kids theatre and acting class program. By combining storytelling and literacy with movement and voice the classes lead children through different forms of theatre and performance.
Payomet has also developed a great way to introduce children to Shakespeare. Thier special one–hour adaptation of A Winter’s Tale is offered for kids on four Thursdays. After the performance children (and adults) can meet the actors at a post-show talkback session. Adults will want to stick around for the full performance, which starts at 8 p.m.
