Chicago kids that are interested in astronomy and exploring outer space can celebrate the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the moon landing by visiting Chicagoland Borders and Waldenbooks stores for a special Space Camp event at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2009.
Kids Space Camp Event at Borders
Specific events may vary from store to store, but possible activities include:
- A space-themed storytime and coloring activities for toddlers and other kids under the age of 6, while children ages 6 to 12 enjoy an interactive storytelling session of spooky campfire-style tales.
- Space camp games for kids ages 3 to 7.
- A trivia contest for children ages 8 to 12 to test their knowledge of space exploration and the original moon landing.
- Space-themed craft projects, such as making spaceships or moon habitats.
- Free face-painting.

Train Like an Astronaut Sweepstakes
Through July 27, 2009, Borders customers can also enter the Train Like an Astronaut Sweepstakes for a chance to win prizes such as a free telescope, a subscription to Astronomy magazine, or a trip for four to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.
