Extra Activities:

  • Do a cheese tasting like Trap. Find different cheeses from canned nacho, cheddar, and some cheeses from the deli. Cut up cheese into pieces and label each one. Add some nuts, pickles, and sliced fruits for kids to experiment with different tastes. Have all the 'cheese-ologists' describe the scents, textures and tastes.

  • Cheese Search: After separating the children into two teams, the adults tie up (for example with scarves) the eyes of each mouse. Then they hide a lot of marshmallows around the meeting area. After that the adults remove the scarves and the mice have to search for the "Cheese". The kids have can even be instructed move on all fours like real mice. When the children find the marshmallows they can eat them immediately. This game could last long time but the kids will have a lot of fun. Pay attention that every child finds a lot of sweets. Every mouse should be lucky! (Note: Ask permission of your host before planning this game, they might not want sweets all over the place. You can also substitute foam blocks and reward mice for finding the cheese instead).
  • Track that Name: Geronimo's Family name is also the name of a town and a cheese. Kids can learn basic research skills by looking up their names too. Find one or two kid friendly name sites (Or for first names a well referenced baby book) to let them look up their first or last name to see what it also means.

  1. Which Character did you like best? What did you like about him or her? Which Character did you like least and why? How would you describe Geronimo's family? The Shadow?
  2. Geronimo found out his last name was also the name of a town and a cheese. What other kids names are also the names of places and things?
  3. At the start of the book Geronimo and his family eat lots of cheesy foods together. What foods does your family like to eat when it gets together?
  4. On the part of the book "How you Nibble", which ones describe your eating habits?
  5. Geronimo Stilton books are full of real world stuff like how cheese is made and what the Great Brittains are like. What did like like learning about most while reading the book?
  6. What was your favorite part of the book? The mystery? The funny parts? Geronimo's crush on the thief? Maybe Trap and Geronimo's relationship?
  7. How are trap and Geronimo different? How are they the same?
  8. What have you read that is a lot like this book? How are the two books different? How are they the same?
