The Clayton County Police Department announced Wednesday afternoon that 14-year old Ayvani Hope Perez has been found safe after being abducted from her home yesterday.
Ayvani was kidnapped at approximately 2:15 a.m. Tuesday morning by two armed suspects who broke into her mother’s home looking for money and jewelry. The suspects kidnapped Ayvani at gunpoint and held her for more than 30 hours before she was picked up by police in Conyers and reunited with her family.
Police have not given the exact location of where Ayvani was being held nor commented on her physical state aside from saying that she has been found alive and safe.
So far two suspects have been apprehended in the kidnapping. One suspect, Wildrego Jackson, 29, is said to be a career felon who was released on probation from Fulton County Jail on July 19. Most of Jackson’s previous charges were drug related according to Mugshots.com. The second suspect is described as a 40-year old Mexican national and is being held on unrelated immigration charges.
The two arrested suspects do not match the composite sketch released yesterday by authorities. The search for the two suspects in the sketch continues as police investigate their involvement.
Ayvani has been the focus of a statewide search involving “150 personnel” since being abducted from her home in pajamas Tuesday morning. The kidnappers first made contact demanding a ransom of $10,000 which was then later increased to $100,000. Ayvani’s aunt, Suky Guerrero told ABC News, that the family was trying to raise the ransom so Ayvani would be released safely but there’s no indication currently that the ransom demands were ever met.
