Kidnapped girl found: According to the FBI, the girl who was abducted from her home early Tuesday has been found alive. The police were looking for 14-year-old Ayvani Hope Perez who was kidnapped by two intruders who broke into her home located southeast of Atlanta, says a Sept. 18 TIME report.
Police stopped vehicles and recorded searches for the kidnapped girl in various places. According to Clayton County police, two men broke into a house through a back door in the Ellenwood area at approximately 2:15 am on Tuesday. . The intruders demanded money and jewelry, said the head of the county police, Nguyen Phong.
When the girl's mom said she had nothing, one of the men shot the family dog, he said. The men then took Ayvani Hope Perez, a Hispanic girl of 14 years, measuring 4.9 feet and weighing only 93 lbs. Family members were then forced to try and raise a $10,000 ransom to give the men who kidnapped the girl.
The home invasion was apparently random, Nguyen told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “It didn’t appear that they knew each other,” police spokesman Officer Phong Nguyen said of the suspects and victims. “They just moved in about a month ago.”
The two kidnappers, identified as Wildrego Jackson, 29, and Juan Alberto Rodriguez, 40, have been arrested. However, the FBI is looking for more suspects.
