Los Angeles based artist/producer, Kidd Upstairs, dropped his latest creation, "Insta Gram$", produced by Stewart Villain this week. The new single is one of the young emcee's hottest releases to date.
It's been a very hot summer for Top Floor Music Group artist/producer, Kidd Upstairs. So far this year, the emcee has been hard at work and managed to release a string of hit singles; gaining a ton of notoriety from blogs and publications across the Web. The most recent addition to Kidd's arsenal is another solid record, that should continue to grow his fan base and attract the dwindling number of music websites, that are yet to hear his music.
"Insta Gram$" is almost as cleverly titled as it was masterfully crafted. The single is an excellent example of what can happen to a song when industry quality lyricism, teams up with more than capable production, the result-- a banger. The concept is a unique take on the social media crazed bombshells that flood instagram and twitter feeds.
Instead of worshiping these women, Kidd sifts through the sea of '10s' to find some that, are as useful for the rapper's cause, as they are gorgeous. It makes for an interesting twist on the stereotype of, females that rely on a male's status or pocket book, to get what they desire. Kidd substitutes the misogynistic tone that most rapper's rely on, and blazes a trail of his own with some brainy content and word play.
The production by Stewart Villain is an able compliment to the Los Angeles rapper's style. Kidd's flow sounds like it was always meant to go on this beat. Stew is an in house producer for Top Floor Music Group, but is part of the Soar Losers collective in Portland.
From Portland on down to So-Cal, this is a dope collaboration for the West Coast. Kuddos to Kidd Upstairs for coming up with another smoldering release that hiphop lover's can appreciate. You can stream "Insta Gram$" on soundcloud or purchase the single on iTunes.
