Unsigned So Cal artist's Kidd Upstairs and X.O. are at it again with their latest hit "Goonin", continuing a trend of making waves in hiphop without the backing of a record label.
The Top Floor Music Group affiliated duo released their latest creation on April 15th and since its release have been receiving notoriety from several music blogs and publications legitimizing the track's quality.
This song may be the artists' best collaborative work to date. "Goonin" is a lyrical gem coupled with a beat that mirrors a Clipse or 90's-styled Busta Rhymes sound, tweaked for a new age feel. Between the lyricism, content and production quality, this track resembles radio ready recording quality.
After being picked up by reputable entertainment websites like kevinnottingham.com, thissonslaps.com, nowthatscollege.com and boi-1da.net, within its first week of being released, it is apparent that this record will be another success for the unsigned artists from Southern California.
Kidd Upstairs and X.O. have both achieved noted success for a few of their joint releases. Last year's music video release Amanda Bynes has reached over 168,000 views to date since being uploaded to Kidd Upstairs' youtube channel last May. Another noted collaborative success from the two unsigned artists was their 2012 summer anthem "Orange Soda" which was featured on Tony Hawk's Ride Channel.
The march towards being signed artists doesn't stop with musical releases, both artists will be performing in California over the next month. Kidd Upstairs recently performed in Sacramento at the Blue Lamp (April 18th) and will be performing at UCSD's Porter's Pub, May 10th opening for Roach Gigz alongside X.O., who also has a performance at the Kava Lounge (May 1st).
