We went to Keystone Resort earlier this season to sample the mountain and the resort’s Kidtopia programming for kids and had a blast. Everything Keystone does is top-notch, from the base to the top of the mountain, and beyond to the restaurants and lodging that surround it.
Keystone announced in early October that the resort would provide any child, 12 or under, staying for two or more nights in one of the resort’s 900+ lodging accommodations free lift tickets for the duration of their stay. In the first four months of the season, 22,000 kids ski free days have been awarded as part of the program, with Kids Ski Free available through Keystone’s closing day on April 7.
“We’re thrilled to have provided so many kids and families both a great ski experience and a great value with our Kids Ski Free offer,” said Keystone Resort Vice President and General Manager John Buhler. “There’s still a month to go in the season, and March and April have historically been fantastic months for families to get away for Spring Break and enjoy the incredible snow and sun in Colorado. There is no better place than Keystone to reconnect as a family and share some special moments together, and we’re pleased to make that experience more affordable with Kids Ski Free.”
The program has no blackout dates and is available on all weekends and holidays. To qualify, families must stay two or more nights in one of Keystone’s numerous owned and operated accommodation options, which span from luxury hotel rooms to cozy ski-in/ski-out condominiums. Families big and small are able to take advantage of the offer, as there are no restrictions on the number of children per adult. Reservations must be booked through http://www.keystoneresort.com/?cmpid=PARPR0008 or toll-free at 877-204-7889.
Families can also save with Keystone Sports' Kids Rent Free program. Now through March 15, with each adult performance or demo ski or snowboard rental, families receive a free children's rental. An additional 20-percent discount is also offered on adult rentals. Rentals may be booked online at rentskis.com. Keystone Sports offers families three convenient locations in Keystone, two locations in River Run Village and a slopeside location at the Mountain House base area.
This season, an enhanced resort experience includes Keystone’s Kidtopia programming, which has been expanded to daily animation and entertainment. The programming features activities and events, many of which are free of charge, including the third installment of the World’s Largest Snowfort, street performers in the resort’s Village centers, kids’ après gatherings, a weekly Kidtopia parade, and on-ice dance parties at the resort’s two ice skating rinks.
Throughout March, families will also enjoy a number of special events like the first annual Keystone Luau, weekly Wednesday night Family Nights, Saturdays at the Station weekly concerts, and the second Canvas and Cupcakes family painting event.
Keystone’s numerous dining outlets offer unique family options including Der Fondue Chessel, a Bavarian-themed restaurant at 11,444 feet, accessed by a two-gondola ride. The mountaintop dining experience is a three-course meal served fondue and raclette-style and complete with fun kid-friendly extras like a nightly rendition of the Chicken Dance by the house polka band.
For those looking to experience the old-West flavor of Colorado, Keystone’s horse-drawn sleigh ride dinners offer a glimpse of what the first settlers in Summit County experienced, but not without a luxurious meal of comfort food favorites and live music.
