Kid’s to get ready to run the Thorne Run (Photos)

The Michael Thorne Scholarship 4 and 1 mile races are scheduled for Sunday, May 19, at Franklin Lake in West Long Branch, N.J.. The race is a favorite at the Jersey Shore and always attracts a large and competitive field.

Sunday, May 19, 4 Miles and 1 Mile with Kid’s Races, Thorne Run, West Long Branch, N.J.

This year leading up to the race there will be a clinic for boys and girls in kindergarten – 8th grades to help them get ready for the event.

The clinic will be run by the four time winner of the race Robert Cavanaugh of West Long Branch. According to Robert, “This clinic is designed to help prepare the kids for the 4 mile or 1 mile and provide a fun, positive environment, while developing fitness, self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running. Campers will participate in warm up and cool down sessions, drills, fitness games, and races.”

The camp will be held on consecutive Thursday’s from April 11 – May 16 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Sorentino Park in West Long Branch, N.J.

The cost for the camp is $95 and includes registration for the 1 mile race, RTC Training t-shirt, race t-shirt, race medal, and much more. This camp is open to kids from all towns.
