For some, the first week back to school has passed.  For others, that first day of school will happen on Monday.  Whether the first day of school has come and gone or if it is being eagerly waited for, school lunches can get expensive.  The cost of nutritious food isn't the only thing to worry about, either.  The cost of buying food in disposable packaging is costly as well.  According Kid Konserve, the amount of savings per day from using non-disposable packaging can be quite significant.

Kid Konserve, maker of waste-free lunch kits, is teaming up with schools for the Waste Free Challenge.  Schools accepting the Waste Free Challenge, get a 15% savings (20% during the months of August and September) on all Kid Konserve products.  Each participating school also gets a percentage of sales from Kid Konserve.  Northern California schools that are currently participating in the Waste Free Challenge include:

Dixie Elementary School. in San Rafael

Katherine Delmar Burke School, in San Francisco

Montessori de Terra Linda, in San Rafael

Neil Cummins Elementary in Larkspur

Convent and Stuart Hall Schools, in San Francisco

Your school can also get involved by signing up to take part in the Waste Free Challenge.

Kid Konserve has also teamed up with Annie's Homegrown food products to provide a cool reusable lunch sack to consumers Free of Charge!

Want to buy Kid Konserve products and save money and help reduce waste?  Take a look at their catalog.  Now through the end of September each order that uses the coupon code "school" will also receive a 15% savings!

These lunch kits are cute and contain everything that would be needed for a variety of lunch foods. Thanks for sharing this article on how to save and make a difference without the abundance of lunch trash.

I hope this project comes to fruition across the country. What a better way to help the world, by getting the children involved.. The children truly are the future, and what they learn now, will carry over to their adulthood...
