There's nothing better than being a kid on the beach. Building sand castles, dumping sand on your friends and of course playing in the water!!! But some beaches are more kid-friendly than others. Here's the best places for you and your little ones to enjoy the surf.
Paradise Cove is a great haven for families. Eat at the famous Paradise Beach Cafe and parking is only $3. There is no surfing allowed on the beach, making it safer for your little ones. You can also rent chairs, umbrellas and cabanas.
Annenberg Community Beach House, Santa Monica Beach
This beach is especially nice for kids because it sports a shaded play area on the sand. It also features a playground, splash pad, pool and tons of fun activities. There is also the Back to the Beach Cafe so you can grab some grub. Plenty of parking here from $8 to $12 a day, and you can reserve your spot online.
Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica
What kid would not love an amusement park? And that's exactly what you get on the Santa Monica Pier. There is the famous Carousel, cool play structures in the sand, an oversized outdoor chess set, and balance beams and gymnastics rings. There are also bikes and skates available to rent so you and the kids can take a ride along the boardwalk. There's also an aquarium with touch tanks and exhibits. And don't forget the ocean to go for a swim!
Mother’s Beach, Marina del Rey
This beach is protected by the boat marina so even the littlest of swimmers can go in the ocean safely. There is even a filtration system for the water. A pirate ship for the kids to explore dots the landscape and there are picnic tables and BBQs. There is also a full-time lifeguard and a roped-off swim area.
This is a great spot for people watching from the colorful characters that line the boardwalk to the street performers and shops available for amusement and window shopping. The beach itself is a nice one, and there is a large play structure at the edge of the bike path that runs adjacent to the boardwalk. If you get hungry, there are plenty of restaurants to choose from.
So pack up the kids, and head out for a fun day at the ocean – whichever beach suits your family's style.
