Before the Bomb, a short film by Tannaz Hazemi, takes you on a journey in the life of 10 year old Elsa who becomes a heroine when faced with the separation of her beloved 5 year old brother Morris.
The idea for the project originally came to Hazemi in a dream. “I took the Summer to write a feature film about a drug dealer, but after a crazy dream one night ended up with a story about a precocious 10-year girl instead and I couldn’t be happier,” says Hazemi. She is now entrusting Kickstarter to make her dream into a reality with a short film that will one day become a feature.
Hazemi is known to take the unconventional path to life and her approach to Kickstarter will be no different. “When you give money to something it's not just to a project, it's to a person you're trusting to execute that project, so there's a sequence of images about my life, which, unless you're Zach Braff or Spike Lee and people know a lot about you, I think helps someone who would donate money. I haven't seen that in any Kickstarter video before.” says Hazemi. She has also tapped a few friends to be featured in the film Lily Cole (model and activist), Casey Neistat (director), Henry Alex Rubin (director) and Mercedes Masohn (actress), they describe the film in their own words and talk about why it should be funded.
Kickstarter backers can also be involved in the process like never before with special “film maker series” rewards, such as a chance to work on the film for IMDB credit and receive professional notes on an original script. And ALL backers are treated to a party where they will be filmed for a thank you video that will be publicly released. Along with a golden lollipop that is inedible and has absolutely no purpose.
