3rd Thursdays—the networking night for Louisiana filmmakers to get away from work for relaxation, partying, and making new friends. In the case of this month's meetup, the night also includes the official kick-off for LA Film Prize's 2014 competition.

Unfamiliar with LAFP? It's said to be the creation of a tequila-filled night where LAFP's leader decided the state needed an event for filmmakers to make short films for big cash. Stationed in the Shreveport-Bossier section of Hollywood South, LAFP provides $50,000 to the grand-prize winning film team. The biggest catch? Filming in/around the Shreveport region. A map of qualifying towns can be found on LAFP's website, along with details and guidelines for the upcoming competition.

Each year, new and enticing prizes are added for films selected in the Top 20. Among them is the guarantee for a screening before thousands of movie fans. 2014 prizes are still being debated and finalized, but are rumoured to be announced soon.

Detailed answers and registration will be available from LAFP staff members at NOVAC's 3rd Thursday this January 16th. The event is hosted at LOA International House on Camp St. The party starts at 7p!
