Kickin' it at Calico Jack's is kickin' it right downstairs from the ShoutHouse! and right across the street from the Saddle Ranch at the West Gate City Center in Glendale, AZ. Calico Jack's Cantina is one of the new additions to the family of bars and restaurants available for your happy hour pleasure along with dining and various other facets of entertainment.
Calico Jack's is kickin' hip hop music on large monitors along the walls by the entrance. Expect a crowd ranging in age from about 21 to 30. In comparison to some of the other restaurants at West Gate, Calico Jack's Cantina seems a bit small. Plenty of servers and security on hand but the place itself was short on customers. Now like most bars, Calico's happy hour is Monday - Friday. Monday's however are special for Monday night football game days. Happy Hour is an all day event on Mondays at Calico Jack's with a selection of $5 appetizers, $2 dollar cervesaz, and a house margarita. All Day!
The environment was not very eventful. The appetizer selection was very basic, and the drinks were less than stiff. We didn't stiff our server, but a return visit to Calico Jack's Cantina will be put on the back burner. The back burner way in the back. No WoW factor noticable about any of what they had to offer. The staff even seemed bored from standing around and I am sure you wouldn't want to leave your cell phone at home if you work there. A good distraction from boredom would be a necessary thing.
Calico Jack's Cantina in Glendale has earned a 5 on our happy meter which measures up to 10 from 1. No real 'happy' there that would tie into the whole happy hour concept that we have been chasing either.
