'Kick-Ass 2' delivers its first poster and red-band trailer (Photos)

After teasing the public with stills and behind-the-scenes footage, the highly anticipated trailer for Kick-Ass 2 has just been released. True to form, it’s a red-band trailer. In addition to the epic premier trailer, the first official poster also saw its release today. Thankfully, some studio head with great wisdom decided to curtail the original promotional title, Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall.

Returning from the original 2010 film are self-described Superheroes Hit-Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) and Kick-Ass (Aaron Taylor-Johnson). Joining them is Jim Carrey as Colonel Stars and Stripes, who leads a group of masked heroes that banded together after the exploits from the first film went public. In the second installment, Chris D’Amico (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), formerly the hero Red Mist, has now dubbed himself the world’s first Supervillain, ‘The Mother F*****’. He’s out to get revenge for his slain father, the bad guy of the first film.

Kick-Ass 2 will open on in D.C. theaters on August 16 for a wide release. Expect it to play Regal Gallery Place and all local AMC theaters. The film stars Moretz, Taylor-Johnson, Mintz-Plasse, Carrey, Lyndsy Fonseca, Clark Duke and Yancy Butler.
