Khloe Kardashian proudly flaunted her 30-pound weight loss and enviably tiny waist while sporting a tight corset on Instagram. Kardashian credited corset waist training for her slim midsection.
"I love my waist trainer from @premadonna87!" Khloe wrote in the caption to her Instagram photo. "Who doesn't love to feel tight and right?"
While it may sound odd, "waist-training" or the "Corset Diet," is a weight loss trend some women use to winnow down their midsection, ABC News reported.
"This is a remarkable way to train your waist to be smaller," said plastic surgeon Dr. Alexander Sinclair, who claims some of his patients have lost up to six inches.
Recently, reports surfaced that Khloe's sister Kim wore a waist trainer to bed every night to make her waist smaller ahead of her May 24 wedding to Kanye West. The measure sounds drastic, but actress Jessica Alba has credited wearing double corsets around the clock for three months for her dramatic post-baby weight loss.
Similarly, Brooke Burke Charvet, creator of the Transform Your Body workout DVD, said wearing a corset was responsible for her stunning post-baby weight loss after each of her four pregnancies.
"Wrapping your post-partum belly is a concept that has been around for centuries," said Burke Charvet, who has her own line of belly wraps called Baboosh. "It works as a compression garment. It helps the swelling of the uterus go back down to its original size and it supports all that baggy baby skin. It is a great, great way to get back in shape."
Meanwhile, Khloe is in great shape after 30 pounds last year, which her trainer, Gunnar Peterson, attributed to a portion-controlled diet and rigorous workouts.
Peterson, creator of Gunnar's Core Secrets fitness DVD, said Khloe's workouts include cardio exercise, plyometric pushups, hauling a sled, dead lifts, resistance bands and ab exercises. When she's not at the gym, Kardashian hikes and does Pilates.
Khloe doesn't follow any extreme diets, but focuses on eating small portions of healthy foods and snacks. Khloe isn't the only Kardashian who has been making headlines for her weight loss. Her sister, Kim, lost 50 pounds in six months by following the low-carb ketogenic Atkins diet and working out almost every day.
Focusing on healthy fats and limiting carbs promotes rapid weight loss by forcing the body to burn fat for fuel, said obesity expert Dr. Eric Westman, author of Keto Clarity.
Kim's ketogenic diet consisted of 1,800 to 2,200 calories and limited daily carb intake to 50 grams. Her daily menu combined proteins like fish, chicken and meat, healthy fats like olive oil, avocados and nuts, and fresh vegetables.
