Khloe Kardashian has been fired from “The X Factor,” according to a Feb. 17 New York Post report. Sources told the publication that the E! reality television star was asked not to return as co-host to the singing reality competition. Her co-host Mario Lopez, however still has his job. “They are asking Mario [Lopez] to come back, but not Khloe,” an insider confirms to the Post.
According to the Post, Kardashian, who had no television hosting experience, appeared nervous on camera, while The Huffington Post suggested that the “awkward” pair were secretly being paid off by the other reality singing show on NBC, “The Voice.”
“I am sure there was a big percentage of Khloe’s fans who followed her to ‘X Factor.’” said LA hosting expert Marki Costello, who has provided on-camera coaching for “Voice” judge Cee Lo Green among others. “But at the end of the day, when she doesn’t know what she is doing, are you helping your show or hurting it?” She added, “It was really hard for me to watch Mario with her,” she said. “It made me, as a viewer, almost uncomfortable.”
Kardashian is not the only one who has made a hasty exit from the show. Judges Britney Spears and L.A. Reid will not be returning for the next season.
Fox network and the show’s creator, Simon Cowell are reportedly “scrambling” to rebuild the series, which was allegedly called a “disappointed” by a network owner. On the rumor mill is news that singer Cheryl Cole who was dumped as a judge last year, may return to the show’s upcoming season.
Cowell has admitted to regret over firing her her, telling reporters, “I had to apologize for the way it was handled.”
An X Factor spokesperson said “The producers have not yet made the talent decisions for this year.”
