The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star, who filed papers citing "irreconcilable differences" through her attorney in Los Angeles on Friday, has been the subject of intense tabloid scrutiny ever since reports of her marriage woes surfaced earlier this year.
At first, the family recited the "everything is fine" mantra when faced with questions from the media or worried fans. But all too often when it comes to the Hollywood gossip, where there's smoke, there's fire, and this case was no exception.
Khloe Kardashian Divorce: 'KUWTK' Star Files Papers to Dissolve Marriage
Over the summer, however, reports of Lamar Odom's substance abuse, infidelity and other erratic behavior began to leak out, thrusting Khloe in the spotlight. As it became harder to deny rumors, bits and pieces of what Khloe was dealing with at home began to appear on episodes of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
If producers thought they were being subtle, they were wrong; it was clearly done in a way that would ease fans of Khloe and Lamar into the reality that the two would not be together for much longer. If fans wanted to ignore the tabloids, fine, but there was no denying the hints Khloe has been giving E! viewers all season via the reality show.
Just as episodes were expertly mixed and mastered to present the Bruce and Kris Jenner split in just the right light, so too were Khloe and Lamar doomed the minute the storyline shifted to them. (Mental note to self: if Kim ever complains on camera about Kanye more than three episodes in a row, draft the "breaking news" divorce story immediately.)
Did you believe the Khloe Kardashian divorce rumors last summer? Now that you know the reports are true, are you surprised?
