Khloe Kardashian defends Cathy’s Kids and Lamar Odom: Cancer charity not scam (Photos)

Khloe Kardashian is standing by her man and issued a statement regarding claims that Lamar Odom’s cancer charity is a scam. In her blog, Kardashian made claims that Cathy’s Kids was founded for a number of reasons, including funding programs for underprivileged youth.

According to Khloe’s Celebuzz blog on April 2, Kardashian claims that Odom personally contributed millions of dollars which made up 90% of the money raised by the Cathy’s Kids foundation. Kardashian went on to insist that none of the charitable funds went toward the benefit of Lamar or any of his family members and that the IRS has repeatedly given Cathy’s Kids cancer charity a “clean bill of health, confirming that there are no improprieties.”

Khloe also stated that Cathy’s Kids was found not just to fund cancer research, but with “several purposes in mind.” The contributions raised by Cathy’s Kids go not only cancer research, but to funding programs for underprivileged inner-city youth that will set them on a path to college and success in life.

Kardashian claims that ultimately a decision was made by Lamar Odom to focus the money from Cathy’s Kids on only one purpose, “enriching the lives of underprivileged inner-city youth,” including multiple AAU basketball teams. Kardashian stated that the funds from Cathy’s Kids provides financial support for coaching and travel to AAU tournaments.

However, the mission statement of Cathy’s Kids, which was established by Lamar Odom in 2004 in memory of his mother, does not indicate that the monies are to be used to fund programs for inner-city youth. The mission statement says that the charity is “committed to help causes that are focused on finding a cure and helping people who suffer from the disease [cancer].”
