KGO radio began new weekend format change today

KGO radio began new weekend format change today

San Francisco-based KGO Radio 810 AM began a new weekend format on Saturday, February 25, 2012, that includes more news than its most-recent all talk weekend format.  The radio station says the change was "based upon extensive listener feedback."

The changes include a larger focus on local news, the launch of a cooking show with Ryan Scott as well as a "locally focused, interactive show" Tim Montemayor.

“We listened to the feedback from our audience and the overwhelming response asked for more local news and original programming”, said KGO News and Program Director, Paul Hosley.  “With that in mind, we are excited to launch expanded weekend news coverage and new original programs ‘Cooking with Ryan Scott’ and ‘The Monty Show’.”

With more people out and about on the weekends, KGO 810 will add traffic reports every 10 minutes, as well as live weather reports with ABC 7 meteorologists and local breaking news.
