KFC Double Down return: KFC announces return of popular chicken 'sandwich'

The KFC Double Down will return to KFC eateries around the country for a limited time. On April 16, USA Today reported that KFC has announced the return of its intriguing "Double Down" sandwich. Said sandwich features bacon and cheese between two breaded filets of chicken. That's right, people. The Double Down? Doesn't have a bun.

"Starting April 21, the Double Down will return to the fast-food chain, according to KFC spokesperson Rick Maynard," reports USA Today. And apparently fans of the Double Down are beyond thrilled. They haven't seen this kind of sandwich since the debut of the Double Down back in 2010.

The KFC Double Down return has many people ecstatic. For some, they can't wait to eat another one of these since they have been off the market for the past four years. For others, they can't wait to try one of these -- it has to be good, right? Of course you still have the people who wouldn't try one for a million dollars (really? Not even for a million?!).

KFC seems really excited about bringing the Double Down back to their menus. It's something different and if people are talking about it, chances are they are going to give it a try. The only problem is that it's not completely healthy. Sure, you're ditching the bun... but you're essentially eating two breaded pieces of chicken with cheese and bacon. Maybe a bun isn't so bad...

The KFC Double Down return comes on the heels of the KFC chicken corsage -- you can check that out in the video above.
