Laid-back beach bars, island locations and good music mixed with an artistic twist always make for a good combination. A Key West establishment that evokes all of these images has just been featured as the album art on Kenny Chesney’s latest single, “When I see this Bar.”
The Half Shell Raw Bar in Key West, Florida is the scene of the cover art for the second single off of Chesney’s latest album “Life on a Rock.” The first single off of the album was “Pirate Flag.”
From the press release …
The photo portrays bar stools, an extensive array of draft beer taps, a sailfish sculpture and license plates from all over the world on the walls. The scene perfectly portrays the casual and lad-back feel of the Half Shell as it shows off this special place that inspires memories of great times and feelings of connecting and belonging.
Molly Weaver, Half Shell bartender, says ...
Chesney fans are already coming in to sit on the bar stools featured on his album."
Located right on the docks at the Historic Key West Seaport, the Half Shell Raw Bar offers a taste of old Key West with its casual and friendly atmosphere. Try out freshly caught fish, clams, peel-and-eat shrimp and conch ceviche while watching pelicans, boats Gulf of Mexico sunsets. The dockside destination of the Half Shell Raw Bar is currently owned by former Philadelphia 76ers President Pat Croce.
When asked about his inspiration for the song, Kenny Chesney said ...
Having played it for people since the record came out, I started to realize: What’s so incredibly personal for me … is just as personal to everyone I’ve played it for. Only they all have a very specific bar where it happened to them! Hung out with friends, fell in love, fell apart – and that’s why I figured this did make sense as a single.”
The alum “Life on a Rock” has earned critical acclaim in USA Today and Entertainment Weekly. Chesney’s 2013 summer No Shoes Nation Tour has sold over a million tickets for shows in 19 stadiums.
Roland “Snoop” Granger, general manager of the Half Shell, said
The entire Half Shell staff is thrilled about the bar making the album cover."
An eight-time CMA and ACM Entertainer of the Year, Chesney loves to visit Key West and spends much of his down time in the island paradise. He has recorded at fellow island-inspired crooner Jimmy Buffett’s Key West recording studio, Shrimpboat Sound.
Chesney has had hits with such summer and youthful songs as “Young,” “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems,” “Summertime” and “When the Sun Goes Down” with Uncle Kracker.
Please visit Amazon to purchase a copy of “Life on a Rock” or to sample the songs on it. I really like “Marley” and “Spread the Love,” which features The Wailers and Elan.
