It’s hard to believe but another election year is upon us. If you want to get involved, there are some important dates you need to keep in mind.

First – the last date for filing as a candidate in Multnomah and Washington Counties, or as a Metro candidate, is March 11, 2014, by 5pm.

The last date you can get your information in as a county/Metro candidate for the Voters’ Pamphlet is March 13, 2014, at 5pm.

If you are part of a committee that is filing information on ballot measure explanatory statements or measure arguments, either for or against, your deadlines are little different. Ballot title and explanatory statements are due March 20, 2014, and measure arguments are due on the following Monday, March 24, 2014. This is the same day city candidate information is due.

Precinct committee people can begin to file on February 1, 2014, and the filing deadline is March 11, 2014. You can access a candidate filing form for Multnomah and Washington County here.

The May primary will be held on May 20, 2014. If you are a military person or other overseas voter, your ballots will be mailed on April 4, 2014. Regular stateside voters will receive their ballots the first week in May, as ballots are set to be mailed out on April 30.

As we get closer to election day, we will be posting more information about registering to vote, finding information on candidates, and locating ballot drop sites. It should be an exciting year!
