Kevin Smith kept stoking the fire on his "non feud" with Howard Stern this week, rehashing the 2002 incident during which Stern "lost" him by treating him like a lowly member of the "Wack Pack".
Kevin Smith: Howard Stern used to be popular, now I have to explain who he is
Smith made his most recent comments about Stern during his February 14th Kevin Smith "Plus One" podcast, saying that the last time he requested a spot on the Howard Stern Show he was unfairly ridiculed:
"Before I got on air, [Stern's] talk up was: ‘Kevin Smith—he’s a filmmaker and he made Clerks and all these movies—he’s always calling and trying to get on the show’. And right then and there he lost me. Cause I’m like: ‘Dude? You just treated me like one of these f---ing Wack Packers—one of these guys who calls up and says: ‘Hey man! Listen to me fart the National Anthem!’ or ‘I’m gonna pee on my girlfriend’s hand’ or something like that."
The "Wack Pack" is an exclusive group of Howard Stern Show regular call-ing guests that includes Wendy and Gary "the Retards," High Pitch Eric, Mariann from Brooklyn and many other eccentric personalities.

Smith's wife and co-host Jennifer Schwalbach consoled him and offered validation: "He hurt your feelings."
"He did," replied Smith. "And I was just like: ‘Dude, you know? I would never treat you like that. I would never say--I would never down talk you, even jokingly and s--t like that—and that really bummed me out. And I sat there going: ‘Why do I do it? Why do I subject myself to it? May it best to like this dude from afar. You know what I’m saying? Appreciate his place in history and what he’s done and the jokes he tells and how funny he can be, but stay out of it. Look, I can go anywhere to promote what I do."
"And you can go anywhere to get bashed as well," said Schwabel supportiverly.
"Yeah, by people that like I’ll bash back. Like, I won’t bash Stern back because that’s like bashing your father."
Smith revealed that he had been planning to announce a free ticket giveaway of unsold seats at the premiere of his upcoming film 'Red State' during his Howard Stern Show appearance, but took his news to WFAN instead.
"They're terrestrial radio and they reach WAY more people," dug Smith one more time. "And that's not an insult to Howard Stern--that's a fact."
The Howard Stern Show is currently on vacation from live broadcasts.

Kevin Smith.....WHHHAAAAAAAH!
I would expect him to be a little more thick-skinned over some comments from Howard and roll with the punches. For someone who "grew up listening to Howard" he should know better. And why start this pseudo-feud? To gain attention? Piers Morgan did it better.
I love Kevin Smith and his movies... But he needs to get over this.
There must be something wrong with me. I love Kevin, Dave, & Howard. But, Kevin finds Jay funny and feuds with Stern. It doesn't add up to me. Kevin is really smart, i listen to his weekly podcasts, clearly a smart dude. Respect the heck out of him as a creative and a human. But, any Stern person knows you are going to get hazed before you get inside. He gives $hit to people he is really close to. It is the Stern schtick. Kevin is right WFAN has more listeners as is measured by those who measure terrestrial radio. Plus the premier is really to attract local folks to the venue. Smart choice of show, poor sportsmanship to take a dig a Stern. What up Kevin a douche move. I will try to be at the Red State Q&A in New Orleans.
This article was a biiit more clear, but I don't get it - how did Howard Stern "lose" Smith, and how'd he treat him like his Wack Packers? What did he do? I didn't catch from the article, from the first quote... *shrugs
This article is a perfect example of why BS feuds exist. You seem to have ignored the 10 minute lead-in where Smith exalts Howard Stern. It's possible to like them both without having to choose "sides"... and if the writer liked *either* of them, she wouldn't perpetuate such drama.
k
more listeners on terrestrial - doubt it
