Dayton High School baseball player, Kevin Roe has been honored as KHOU 11 Athlete of the Week. The hard throwing senior right-hander led the Broncos to two big wins over the C.E. King Panthers to earn the accolade.
Although designed as an individual award, Roe was quick to shift credit to his teammates.
"The team is great," said Roe. The coaches are great. Couldn't ask for a better team."
Roe hit .666 including three doubles, a grand slam and eight rbi's against the Panthers.
From the mound, the Angelina College commit hurled a complete game, 10 strikeout, no walk, one earned run performance in helping his team improve to 12-1 and keeping them atop the District 19-4A standing with a 5-1 mark.
Just hours after receiving the award, Roe pitched a three hitter with five strikeouts sending Dayton to a 10-1 win over Crosby. The win moved Roe's record this season to 5-0 and his team to 13-1.
The award presentation can be seen Sunday night, March 30, 2014 at 10:30p.m CT. on KHOU 11 Sports Extra.
