Is Kevin Love heading to Cleveland to join LeBron James, Mike Miller and the new look Cavaliers? Where there is smoke there's usually fire - especially when it comes to the NBA and LeBron James. According to NBC Sports on July 17 the Cavs are now willing to deal Andrew Wiggins for Kevin Love.
The No. 1 pick in the NBA draft is usually something no team is willing to trade, especially before he even suits up for his first regular season game. Andrew Wiggins has nothing but upside and will most likely have a nice NBA career, but if the Cavaliers want to chase that ring this is a deal they need to pull off.
A league source said on July 17 that the Cavs are now willing to trade the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 draft. However, a source said James wants the 6-10, 250-pound Love on the roster.
Kevin Love is a beast, just like Kevin Garnett was back in his days with Minnesota. Getting a guy who is big presence in the middle and can shoot with a soft touch is something the Cavaliers need if they are serious about making a run at the 2015 NBA title.
Right now Vegas odds makers have Cleveland anywhere form 4/1 to 6/1 to win the NBA Championship next season and truthfully that is almost laughable. Remember, the Cavs have had zero success since James hit the road to South Beach. Just because he came back home to Cleveland doesn't mean they should jump from 30/1 to 6/1. Right now there is no way Cleveland could beat the Spurs or OKC in the NBA Finals. Truthfully Cleveland may not be able to beat the Heat, Bulls or even Charlotte if the rosters stay status quo.
James is a great player, but he needs several other pieces to fall into place before Cleveland can make a run at the title. Adding Kevin Love would be a huge step in that direction. Fans know you have to trade good players to get good players in return, but this is a no-brainer if you are Cleveland. Love is proven and could make the Cavs a real threat next season.
