Kevin Hart will get a cinematic assist from basketball superstar LeBron James in a new sports comedy according to Deadline. The industry website reported on Wednesday, Dec. 4 that the comedic actor will play the Miami Heat star’s brother in a film called “Ballers” for Universal and Imagine Entertainment. Production is scheduled to get underway next summer.
The “Think Like a Man” star will portray James’ sibling who’s been overshadowed by his athletically gifted brother but gets an opportunity to prove himself when he attends a fantasy basketball camp.
Hart will pen the script along with his writing partners. He and James reportedly will also serve as producers on the project, a position the NBA star has held before. James served in a similar capacity on the 2008 documentary “More Than a Game”.
Hart who’s been red hot at the box office the last couple of years will next star in the boxing comedy “Grudge Match” with Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone which is scheduled to premiere in theaters on Christmas day. He will then co-star with rapper-actor Ice Cube in the comedy “Ride Along” the following month.
