Native son Kevin Hart attended the Philadelphia red-carpet premiere screening of his new film "Ride Along" on Wednesday night, with co-star Ice Cube (Are We There Yet, 21 Jump Street) and producer Will Packer (About Last Night, Think Like a Man). The three are on a press tour promoting the movie's nationwide release on January 17. The film's producer, Will Packer, commented that Hart was "so excited about coming back to Philly. He always wants to show love to his hometown, so I’m happy we were able to bring the movie here."

The movie tells the story of a guy (Hart) who goes on a "ride-along" with his fiancee's cop brother, played by Ice Cube, to prove he is worthy of her hand in marriage; however he becomes dangerously, and hilariously, entangled in the officer's latest case. When asked what made this one stand out from other buddy-cop films, legendary music veteran and actor Ice Cube joked "me and Kevin Hart! Kevin is one of the hottest comedians, I’m hot period, put us together it’s caliente." He also shared that in regards to buddy comedies, audiences haven’t seen one like this for years and that's very cool.

The film was shown on two theater screens Wednesday evening at the Pearl Theatre, in the North Philadelphia section of the city where Kevin was raised. Ensuring that as many local fans as possible had a chance to attend, the successful actor/comedian tweeted an impromptu invitation to his followers on Twitter and gave away 200 additional tickets to the screening.

When asked how he felt bringing this film here for a premiere, Hart remarked "it’s a great feeling to bring something like this to your city. Naturally actors have to go to LA and New York, but people don't really think to bring things back to where they are from. To bring stars like Ice Cube and (the film) to your city in advance, it shows that you don’t forget where you came from."

And true to his humble nature, Kevin not only introduced the film to the audiences as scheduled, but he also stayed to view the movie along with his fans. The star also took Ice Cube on a tour of his hometown on Thursday, which included the pair giving away free cheesesteaks at two local establishments, including Jim's on South street from where Kevin posted video on his Twitter page.
