Kevin Garnett trade rumors had suggested a LA Clippers trade with the Boston Celtics could happen. With Garnett in no hurry to leave Boston and the team climbing the standings in the Eastern Conference, it looks like no deal is close to happening. According to a report from Wednesday (Feb. 20) that hasn't stopped the Clippers from trying to convince the Celtics to make a deal. An update has the Clippers ending the pursuit for now.
There were several trade scenarios out there, but the one which made the most sense was the Clippers sending point guard Eric Bledsoe and center DeAndre Jordan to Boston for Garnett. It would have helped the Celtics enter a rebuilding phase and given the Clippers the veteran presence in the low post that the team really needs. The deal just never came together, especially when Garnett made it clear that he was going to use his no-trade clause to block any move. Now the Clippers are officially moving on to other considerations.
This doesn't mean that a deal still cannot be done in the offseason, so fans should fully expect more Kevin Garnett trade rumors to start up after the 2013 NBA Finals. Whether the trade involves the LA Clippers is another question, as the team may still try to get a deal done before the Feb. 21 NBA trade deadline. With Bledsoe the biggest trade asset that the team has, he might not be around for a deal with the Boston Celtics at a later date.
