New Kevin Garnett trade rumors hint at an LA Clippers trade with the Boston Celtics going down. Garnett would reportedly be welcomed by Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, even if a deal doesn't actually seem imminent. According to a report from Saturday (Feb. 16), multiple reports have the Clippers still pursing Garnett, even though it has seemed like the Celtics have no intention to trade him.
Paul, speaking about the possibility of a trade, stated that "I think people are just talking. At the end of the day, who wouldn't want to have Kevin Garnett on their team? I talk about that guy all day, every day, his intensity to the game and how he plays the game." He definitely addresses how a lot of this is probably just conjecture, but at the same time would like to have someone like Garnett on the roster.
If a trade did go down between the Clippers and the Celtics, it would likely include either DeAndre Jordan or Eric Bledsoe being a main component heading to the Eastern Conference. It's no secret that the Clippers have questionable toughness at the moment and adding someone like Garnett could really help the team improve on defense in the low post. Giving up the future in Jordan and Bledsoe could be a huge risk though.
It doesn't seem like the Kevin Garnett trade rumors are going to slow down, even if the Boston Celtics do appear content to hold on to him. If a LA Clippers trade were to take place, it might also give the team a bit of momentum in the second half, with a Garnett deal possibly being very nice for fantasy basketball owners. Garnett would have an easier time on offense in Los Angeles, potentially leading to a nice boost in stats from a trade.
