Nike released a video on Tuesday featuring Kevin Durant telling the story behind the latest colorway of the Nike KD 6. Originally called the "Mint Speckle" when it was first leaked online, the colorway is actually the continuation of the "Texas" theme that Durant has had throughout this entire signature line.
Although Durant only spent one season in college as a member of the Texas Longhorns, the time he spent there was enough to impact his life forever. The hospitable nature that the state has come to be known for fits right into Durant's nature, not to mention their penchant for being a little wacky, especially in the city of Austin. The Nike KD 6 "Texas" plays into that "keeping Austin weird" nature by going out of the typical orange and white or silver color scheme we have seen with previous releases, opting to go with a black and burnt orange upper but with green glow speckles that are supposed to represent a typical starry Texas night.
The Nike KD 6 "Texas" will be available at retail locations and at Nike.com on October 10 for $130.00 a pair. Also available on the same day will be a matching KD backpack and KD Hyper Elite Crew socks.
