Kevin Costner says 'Whitney Houston was my one true love'

Family, friends and fans are mourning the death of Whitney Houston who died Saturday, February 11, 2012 in the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

However, according to the Sentinel Dispatch, no one is more distraught over the death of Houston than Kevin Costner, 57, her co-star in The Bodyguard, Houston's first movie role. Those who saw The Bodyguard might have also seen the love and passion between the pair.

Disclaimer: While this seems like a romantic gesture after the death of Whitney Houston, there is no real proof that this actually happened.

The Sentinel Dispatch reported without actual proof that Costner's agent, Tammy Morrison, reluctantly read a statement from Costner at a hastily arranged press conference in Beverly Hills:
"I let her down. I should have been there, and I wasn't. And now for the rest of my life I will have to live with that pain. I didn't know how to tell her how I really felt about her, and wasn't sure that it was appropriate. But you only live once, and I'll never regret the nature of our relationship."

In The Bodyguard, Costner's character protected Houston's character. At the end of the movie after Houston's stalker had been killed, Costner's duty having been fulfilled by successfully protecting Houston, they part with a kiss. Costner then moves on to his next assignment. That's what he did in real life as well.

Costner's statement continues:
"I saved her then, I should have saved her now. She was my one true love. I still have I Will Always Love You as my ringtone, and I count it a badge of honour every time I get mocked or assaulted for it."
