Kevin Bacon is coming to town

See also

We all heard of the six degrees of separation with Kevin Bacon, so how many steps away are you from the actor? It may be only one since Bacon is part of a “Do Good” challenge to take place at the University of Maryland College Park on April 18, 2012.

Bacon has a fundraising organization Sixdegrees.org that has raised close to $4 million. The challenge is to start a fundraiser of your own or host an awareness event. “It’s a small world, and it’s easier to do good than you think,” Bacon says. He wants students to use their creativity to encourage social change.

There will be an “American Idol” style competition with a panel of celebrity judges including Bacon that will pick the best projects from six finalists. Prizes include $5,000 for the winner’s cause, a private jet trip to Atlanta to see the Hawks basketball game and other Bacon-related items.

If you are a fan of the Bacon Brothers music, they are coming to Rams Head in Annapolis April 19-20 for two shows each night. It has been 17 years since the band has been entertaining us with their rock music that has a blue collar roots style. Tickets are $49.50 and performances are 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. each night.

Good luck entering the contest.
