Kessig Malcontents from 'Avacyn Restored' burns in 'Magic: The Gathering' decks

Kessig Malcontents is a fiery uncommon red card from Wizards of the Coast's expert "Magic: The Gathering" expansion set "Avacyn Restored" that can leave your opponent feeling burnt crispy like "toast" from Incinerate's original flavor text.

Kessig Malcontents - 2R
Creature - Human Warrior (Uncommon)
When Kessig Malcontents enters the battlefield, it deals damage to target player equal to the number of Humans you control.
Discontent is a powerful weapon in the hands of a mob.

Featured in the "Fiery Dawn Intro Pack," Kessig Malcontents from "Avacyn Restored" can be an incredibly powerful tool in a human based deck.

In a deck that abuses Champion of the Parish by running spells like Gather the Townsfolk or Thatcher Revolt along with Increasing Devotion, your Kessig Malcontents can easily burn your opponent for five or more damage. That's one fourth of their starting life total.

With a Curse of the Bloodletting or Gisela, Blade of Goldnight on the battlefield you'll be able to double the amount of damage that Kessig Malcontents deals to your opponent. If that isn't enough then a timely Restoration Angel can mean game over.

Grim Lavamancer is a powerful red human that makes a natural inclusion in any Kessig Malcontents deck and Cathar's Crusade can help ensure your army of 1/1 human creatures grow into larger threats.

Clifftop Retreat helps your mana base while a Slayer's Stronghold can put additional pressure on your opponent or force them into awkward combat situations.

A casual deck revolving around Kessig Malcontents might look like this:

Creatures (23)
4x Champion of the Parish
3x Fiend Hunter
1x Gisela, Blade of Goldnight
3x Grim Lavamancer
4x Kessig Malcontents
3x Restoration Angel
3x Thraben Doomsayer
2x Zealous Conscripts
Other Spells (13)
2x Cathar's Crusade
2x Curse of Bloodletting
4x Gather the Townsfolk
2x Increasing Devotion
3x Thatcher Revolt
Land (24)
9x Plains
9x Mountain
2x Slayer's Stronghold
4x Clifftop Retreat

Mirran Crusader and Silverblade Paladdin are two other human creatures that may be worth considering in a deck seeking to abuse Kessig Malcontents.
