Kershaw, Dodgers defeat Giants 4-0 on Opening Day

Matt Cain and Clayton Kershaw locked horns for a spectacular Opening Day battle. After seven innings, the score was 0-0 and there was very little offense to speak of.

George Kontos relieved Cain in the seventh and things began to unravel for the Giants soon after. After pitcher Clayton Kershaw led off the eighth inning with a home run, the Dodgers slowly began to chip away at the Giants' bullpen. They would eventually score four runs in the inning while facing Kontos, Casilla and Affeldt.

The Giants' offense only mustered four hits off of Kershaw, who threw a complete game shutout. Angel Pagan had two infield singles and Pablo Sandoval had two sharp singles as well.

The Dodgers' received multi-hit games from left-fielder Carl Crawford and second-baseman Mark Ellis.

Matt Cain's final line: 6 innings, 0 runs, 4 hits, 1 walk, 8 strikeouts

Clayton Kershaw's final line: 9 innings, 0 runs, 4 hits, 0 walks, 7 strikeouts

Tomorrow's game is at 7:10 p.m. Bumgarner will start for the Giants against Ryu for the Dodgers.
