Kerry Washington was the top winner at the 44th Annual NAACP Image Awards, hosted by Steve Harvey, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA on Friday, February 1, 2013. "Scandal" and "Django Unchained" star Kerry Washington received honors for Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for "Django Unchained," a second award for Actress in a Drama Series for "Scandal," and received The President's Award in recognition of special achievement and public service, which includes her service on President Obama's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities.
Other highlights included legendary actor and Oscar winner Sidney Poitier presenting fellow legendary actor and activist Harry Belafonte with the Spingarn Medal which honors outstanding achievement. The George Lucas film "Red Tails," a story about the African American World War II Tuskegee Airmen, won for Best Picture. The celebration ended with "Django Unchained" star Jamie Foxx receiving the honor of Entertainer of the Year.
