Kerry Washington is one to keep secrets. According to Fox News on Friday, Washington gave birth two weeks ago, but it is just been publicized now. The same thing happen when she got married. It was after the fact before the public knew about it.

Washington, 37, who plays Olivia Pope on the popular show, "Scandal" and her husband, retired NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha, 32, welcomed a baby girl at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The birth was first reported Friday by celebrity website TMZ. However, the parents haven't announced the baby's birth publicly. Washington's publicist, Amanda Silverman, said no statement was available.

Washington's team of real-life gladiators managed to successfully keep that information under wraps until a couple of days ago, when the baby's birth certificate became available. The birth certificate released Friday shows the couple's daughter is Isabelle Amarachi Asomugha, and she was born around 5 p.m. on April 21. The birth certificate, obtained by E! News and provided online, shows that it was signed off by an attendant who served as a legal witness on April 24, and Washington's husband of nearly a year signed off as the father on April 29.

The baby girl's first name, "Isabelle" means "devoted to God." The middle name, Amarachi, is an African word meaning "God's grace."

E! News confirmed last Oct. that Washington and Asomugha were expecting their first child together, but the actress didn't talk about her pregnancy until she was on the Golden Globes red carpet with a baby bump. Then she said, "I also feel like I have the best date of the night, my little accessory here" as she gestured toward her baby bump.

During last season's episodes of ABC's "Sandal," Olivia Pope still did what she had to do, but was obvious that the writers kept her sitting or standing behind a prop so that her pregnancy would not interfere with her character. Because of the pregnancy of the Emmy-nominated star of the series, the third season of "Scandal" was cut short.

Asomugha a former cornerback with the Oakland Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers, announced his retirement last year.

Congratulations to the happy couple.
