Kerry Washington is a widely popular television star. Fans can't get enough of Olivia Pope on the ABC show “Scandal.” When Washington announced her pregnancy, fans were thrilled for her. Last June she married former NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha. According to a May 2 report from TMZ, Kerry Washington gave birth to a baby girl two weeks ago on April 21. The baby girl was named Isabelle Amarachi Asomugha.

“Scandal” creator Shonda Rimes had a difficult task of hiding Kerry Washington's pregnancy throughout the third season. Now that Washington has delivered the baby, there won't have to be any crazy plant placement or edits before the episode is viewer-ready. Fans were a little disappointed the pregnancy wasn't written into the show but with the way things are going now, it is better it wasn't.

Twitter has been buzzing ever since the baby news broke earlier this afternoon. The Kerry Washington feed has numerous words of congratulations and happiness spread around. Washington has a huge fan base which is comprised of both other celebrities and viewers. The collective excitement is enough to make any new mom blush a little bit. Fans are hoping that Washington will make an announcement about baby Isabelle sometime soon and share pictures with the world.

The fact that Kerry Washington and husband, Nnamdi Asomugha were able to keep the birth of their baby girl a secret for two weeks is astonishing in this world of technology. This is the first child for Washington who is 37. Fans are gearing up for the new season of “Scandal” to begin this fall. There is a lot going on and it wouldn't be the same without the fabulously maintained Olivia Pope. Fans are incredibly happy for the new parents and wish the new family health and happiness in the months and years to come.
