Keratin treatments are all the rage with celebrities, fashionistas, and those who simply want smoother, more manageable hair. The Keratin Lounge by LASIO (39 W. 38th St.) provides this service and more, and also educates their clients about hair care, the best products to use, and proper maintenance.

The salon hosted a grand opening party on Tuesday, welcoming media, entertainment professionals, and the stylish public to view their facility. The space is crisp, clean, and open – with a private area for VIP or bridal clients. Guests enjoyed music by DJ Teal, delicious Asian fusion hors d’oeuvres, and a variety of Birthday Cake Vineyards cocktails. “Dukes of Melrose” castmember Marcus Stewart also visited the trendy, yet unpretentious, space.

Keratin Lounge Sales Vice President Anthony Rossano explained that during a keratin treatment, the hair is saturated with the keratin formula, dried, and flat-ironed to seal in the solution. After 24 hours the hair can be washed and styled further. The result is frizz-free hair that lasts three to four months. Those concerned about the high levels of formaldehyde in competitors’ products should know that LASIO’s One-Day Formula contains 0.02% formaldehyde – one of the lowest levels for Brazilian keratin treatments in the market.

If you opt to go formaldehyde-free, the Keratin Lounge offers their Tropic treatment. This formula will still reduce your curl pattern, but you will have more body and shine. Hair can be washed the same day, and the treatment lasts for two to three months. Other options include Color Pro, which works for deep redheads and some blondes, and Mocha Silk for coarse hair. The salon sells a full line of LASIO products, including the keratin-infused, Hypersilk Replenishing and Clarifying shampoos and conditioners, and the Revitalizing Masque.

Keratin Lounge CEO Nadine Ramos emphasized that the popular treatments are also affordable, priced at only $250 per session. Ramos hopes to expand to Tribeca first, and then to markets across the country. Rossano listed L.A., Chicago, Florida, Dallas, and D.C. as potential future locations. The Lounge also offers blowouts, men’s and women’s haircuts, color, couture styling, and of course, healthy hair education along the way. “It’s all about healthy hair at LASIO,” Ramos said.
