Kenya Moore is being accused of ripping off a charity on the “Real Housewives of Atlanta.” The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports on Feb. 19 that Saving Our Daughters claims Moore never gave the charity her donations. Moore is vehemently denying these accusations and is showing copies of her checks to prove that she sent the money.
Saving Our Daughters states that Moore’s masquerade ball for the charity was not an approved event, and the organization’s leaders had nothing to do with arranging it. In addition, the charity shares that it only received a $500 personal check from Moore, and it has not seen any of the other donations raised at the ball.
Moore has responded to these allegations with a mix of evidence that includes copies of checks, texts and tweets. She also shares she spent $10,000 to make the event a success and attract donors. Saving Our Daughters actually lost its non-profit 501(c)3 status, but it continues to operate. The charity denies receiving donations from the masquerade ball, so there is some confusion about what happened at the event.
NeNe Leakes is also involved in the charity scandal because Saving Our Daughters mentions she has been a donor for a long time and was honored at the ball for her work. Neither Leakes nor the charity was aware that she would be receiving an award, so Moore appears to have arranged the entire event on her own.
