Kentucky parks to open seasonal pools and beaches

Memorial Day weekend marks the traditional opening of pools and beaches at Kentucky State Parks. There is no need to wait for the summer solstice to enjoy the fun of summer swimming!

Listed below are the parks within the Commonwealth of Kentucky that offer either a pool or a beach or both.

In western Kentucky:

  • Barren River Lake has an outdoor pool in addition to the beach at the lake; the pool is for the use of lodge and cottage guests only.
  • Kenlake has an outdoor pool for the use of guests of the lodge and cottages.
  • Kentucky Dam Village has an outdoor pool for the use of guests of the lodge and cottages.
  • Lake Barkley has an indoor pool at the fitness center that is open to the public for a fee and free to use for guests of the lodge and cottages, an outdoor pool at the lodge that is for guests of the lodge and cottages only, and a public beach on the lake.
  • Lake Malone has a public beach.
  • Nolin Lake has a beach at the lake for swimming.
  • Pennyrile Forest has an outdoor pool in addition to a beach at the lake; the pool is for the use of lodge and cottage guests only.
  • Rough River Dam has an outdoor pool in addition to a beach at the lake; the pool is for the use of lodge and cottage guests only.

In central Kentucky:

  • Big Bone Lick has an outdoor pool at the campgrounds for use of campers only.
  • Blue Licks Battlefield has a junior Olympic-sized outdoor pool; the pool is free for lodge and cottage guests and open to the public for a fee.
  • Cumberland Falls has an Olympic-sized outdoor pool; the pool is free for lodge guests and open to public for a fee.
  • Dale Hollow Lake has a lodge pool that is ADA accessible for the exclusive use of lodge guests; a community pool at the campgrounds is open to the public.
  • E.P. “Tom” Sawyer has an Olympic-sized outdoor pool that is open to the public.
  • Fort Boonesborough has a junior Olympic-sized outdoor pool complete with a slide, rain tree, and a children’s area; the pool is open to the public.
  • General Butler has an outdoor pool for the use of guests at the lodge, cottages, or campgrounds.
  • Green River Lake has a public beach.
  • Lake Cumberland has an indoor pool at the lodge for use of guests at the lodge or cottages plus a public outdoor pool.

In eastern Kentucky:

  • Buckhorn Lake has an outdoor pool and a beach at the lake; the pool is for the use of lodge and cottage guests only, the beach is public.
  • Carr Creek has the longest sand beach in the Kentucky park system and it is open to the public.
  • Carter Caves has an outdoor pool; the pool is free for lodge guests and open to the public for a fee.
  • Greenbo Lake has an outdoor pool at the lodge for the exclusive use of lodge guests plus a community pool open to the public.
  • Jenny Wiley has an outdoor pool at the lodge for the use of overnight guests.
  • Kincaid Lake has an outdoor public pool.
  • Levi Jackson has an outdoor community pool.
  • Natural Bridge has an outdoor pool; the pool is free for lodge and cottage guests and open to the public for a fee.
  • Pine Mountain has an outdoor pool at the lodge that is ADA accessible for the exclusive use of lodge guests.
  • Yatesville Lake has a public beach.
